After the Issue Launch I've now had the chance to give the magazine issue a proper look at features of it which I feel are most appealing and strong and that could inspire or take forward into my work in the future.
Using the similar themed images from the exhibition as front and back cover it creates a feel of consistency from the foil patterning in the image which I think works very well whether you're looking at the front or back of the zine. The use of a single, thicker stock strengthens the spine and protects the cover a bit better but also provides a very aesthetically appealing strip on front and back of the issue with space for the 'NEST' logo to appear. Simpye staples have been used to assemble the zine, as when producing at the large scale of print it is it does prove most efficient with time and strength of holding the mag together.
Lastly I wanted to comment on the foiling process used on the logo cover on each of the zine issues. As it has changed and developed for each one. This issue makes use of a slightly debossed layer for the type to sit in with a foiling process inside. This process appears extremely professional and is in sync with the theme of light, as when light hits it at different angles it reveals reflective geometrics within each letter.
I did a bit of research into foiling through this website but it is something I will need to speak to my tutor/ coursemates about to take further + more research! The Website
