Stamp to Notebook

Stamp to Notebook
15 / 03 / 16

It was time that I got my stamp ready, so using a compass and then a scalpal I cut around the outer border. Next I smoothened the edges and then sanded the shiny lino face to make for a better stick. Using epoxy resin I stuck the logo on and held together for 2-3 mins.

Now I have my stamp and stock ready to start crafting myself some themed notebooks for my own personal use at this time.

I decided on 135 gsm stock so it was sturdier for use in the the notebook over, but also for the DesignersWhoDj File 1 and my intro/cv card.

Using acrylic (and some experimentation with water) I rolled out a mix of black, silver and white paints trying normal prints and also testing out debossing in the paint as well, which wasn't particularly successful.

As I got better at the presses I attempted to go press straight onto a couple of the notebooks and it didn't go according to plan. For this reason, I decided to take a new approach as I was still trying to get better at getting a consistent clean press from the stamp. Instead I selected the best presses I had from the session and for the first set of notebooks I mounted them layered up onto the various stock to better represent my colour scheme.

I am pleased with how they turned out as they look visually very attractive and represent me as a designer well. Although I did set out to experiment with pressing straight onto the notebooks like in the inspirational image I showed in planning, I feel like the introduction of white to the book-covers balance the colours out better, especially complimenting the white thread I used to bind the books. I used a saddle stitch binding process with normal 70gsm stock.
