Glug is a series of events for the design and creative community. Our showcase event is held in London but there are now many other events around the world.
Based around a series of talks and informal networking, Glug has become one of the most exciting, credible and well attended creative events around. This event focused on the development of Leeds talent, keeping graduates situated in the Northern design hub.
I noted how most the presentations make use of memes ALOT!

She Does Digital
about the skills gap in Leeds/U.K. For digital skills
They want to keep graduates in Leeds
Danielle landed 4 separate placements over uni so by the time her final year show came she had a nicely built up portfolio which helped her draw a lot of attention! Portfolio needs to reflect passion
They made pledge sheets to bring to the event which they promoted in their talk and set up a little box to post back ideas and get people on board on social media
I enjoyed the she does digital talk as they touched upon the booming digital demand in Leeds which is relevant to the current OUGD504 brief. According to reports, 3,500 digital businesses are in Leeds and employing over 72,000 employees which is encouraging for digital design and graduates in Leeds.
Event Overview
Overall the event did feel like a successful trip, not only did I hear some very relevant talks inspired by the digital age and keeping it focused within Leeds and its budding students; but also it was an opportunity to show my face and briefly chat to some other creatives in industry. Although I didn't properly have a conversation this time round, I expect to see a similar crowd at Interns launch, so this will give me another chance to network in a smaller, less intimidating space.
