To summarise this mini brief, I did think there was great potential for this publication - so I was disappointed when it got restricted so much.
However, I have enjoyed getting back into the editorial swing of things in InDesign and boshing out this publication for the client within a quick 2-3 day turn around due to time constraints. It has definitely pushed me as a designer to really adapt to the environment and meet the requirements and demands of the client as best as I can - as much as we don't necessarily like to as designers!
I think we have still ended up with a professional yet straight-forward publication which she will be pleased with - perfectly meeting the requirements of her brief - so I'm happy to have had this experience and chance to dabble in a bit of editorial and print as now I don't think I will for the rest of the year now focusing primarily on design for screen and motion/illustration work.
Here is the rest of the finished publication (from the pdf) - unfortunately she did get 2 printed (so I could have one to properly photograph) but the first was ruined as she was new to binding. Is a shame because her deadline was the next day so she handed it straight in - and if I'd have a bit more free reign with the project I probably would have been more inclined to get more involved with the print process and go for something a bit less generic than digital print - will evaluate it as an experience that I will learn from!
