Today was all about the importance of planning and structuring our time and getting into good habits at uni. We created sample day to day plans to keep on top of all projects with contingency for ourselves. I'm already quite organised with keeping a list of all my ongoing tasks so I know what needs doing, however planning a specific time slot for them to get done in isn't always my strongest point.
Penny got us to write a hourly plan of the next couple of days and how we plan to fit our work in around the weekend and our free time. I struggled with this as limiting myself to a timetabled schedule is not something I'm used to. But the stress was put on making the most of the free time we will create through structuring our uni work, so this lead onto a list of some of our long-term dreams that we want to achieve within our lives:
- Get a 2.1
- Live in NYC for 6 months atleast
- Visit Amsterdam in Feb
- Design my own home
- Learn to play on vinyls and have a collection
- Work for a company having a genuine positive impact on the world/ audience through design.
- Have a job which allows me to travel the world
- Eventually have practised every element of Graphic Design and consider myself a 'professional'.
- Work with some big techno DJs and make connections through it
Penny encouraged us to start today where we can on our dreams, and this is where it linked back to the free time we will be creating through our week plans. So our task until our next session is to try and structure each day at the start of it and then reflect on how well its working for us and how much time we actually free up for 'me time'.
To be continued...
