Logo Colour/Type Scheme

Colour/Type Decisions
14 / 03 / 16

I needed to finalise my colour scheme decisions for my personal identity as I was still unsure on which route to take. I wanted to keep it simplistic with a single pastel styled colour and then a shade of grey as the contrasting block text/symbol colour. Obviously I wanted to represent my own personality and my tastes in general through my colour scheme so I started off with experimenting with my favourite colour orange. Upon looking into the psychological meanings and traits that can be portrayed through the colour, I was genuinely feeling like it reflected me as a person and designer, with the obvious comments on being confident and lively, but some more semantic reasonings are included to...

I didn't want an overly bright shade of orange however as I do feel as if I have toned aspects of myself down in order to be a better designer, I feel the more pastel-y shades reflect my personality better as a designer and in my opinion looks much more professional and attractive. The first orange I tried was very peach-y and too feminine...

For this reason I did make the colour less saturated and in attempts to produce a more personalised response I did actually sample the colour from one of my favourite t-shirts!! ...

I did go through various type experimentations in the generation of my logo, however I did end up on settling with a typeface named Biko. Using the bold and regular versions of this type it gives me a simple 2 platform option panel for block text documentation but also titles and headings. That I can use across my various pieces of stationary for my personal identity - e.g. Email footers & Intro card.
