Logo Development

Logo Development & Finalising
10 / 03 / 16

I wasn't happy with the irregularities in the last version of my logo so after going into the studio I spoke to Simon regarding how I can effectively have the outer ring in-sync with the white space between the inner ring. This ended up in a rather tedious process which involved creating the outer lines on a dashed squared ellipse path. I then had to go in with the pen & direct selection tools to remove un-needed lines to create to outer dashes. Stages illustrated below going clockwise...

Once I had finished this it was a matter of touching up the dash widths and then squaring off the outer dashes. I then added in my symbol logo and experimented a bit more with a typeface that had a bit more personality which reflected myself..

Firstly.. I presented the 3 final options for the border design. The original more detailed dotted outer ring, which proved to intricate and un-do-able at smaller scales, the dashed design and then the dashed design with trimmed away outer dashes (more regular).

The original Young type:

Keep Calm type:

FINALS:

Strapline:

Final Outcome: (Biko Bold & Regular type used, provides more personality than the very simple modernist Young)
