To begin my PPP self branding I was looking at some very smart 2 colour designs which gave off a very sophisticated and almost luxury feel to the designs. This is because of the use of the sleek black with the feature colour reflecting golds/bronzes/etc. These designs appeared very professional however I did not want to risk appearing too formal, thus hard to approach, especially through being a relatively new designer the wrong message could be communicated. I wanted to be able to still take inspiration from these styles, but make it more approachable with slightly altered colour schemes - friendlier but distinct of my personality.
Foiling in golds was very appealing to me, but again may appear too grand for my own personal identity at this stage of my designing career. It is something I want to look into for future projects, however at this point in time I haven't yet been inducted into it at the College so will have to chase it up. It is a very smart but minimalist approach as shown by Face Studios in their identity rebrand for Mal de Mar.
I wanted to carry forward the clean and smart designs, but through the use of a new 2 colour scheme which has the potential to appear more friendly and hard-hitting. For example the images below show how this can be done, personally I would use a warmer cream/orange/off-white colour as the base of the stock, paired with a dark grey colour to provide the contrast. I like the idea of having squared-off intro/business cards, but it would have to be in sync with the rest of the personal identity theme.
As I began looking into how aesthetically I could portray my personal branding on a whole I came across another project by Face Studios. The overall branding here is extremely attractive and I took great inspiration from the rounded stamp-style logo printed central on the various pieces of stationary.
Below shows a very simple but very effective stamp design which can be included on notebooks and other pieces of stationary for my personal branding. I love this concept and I am starting to look into getting a stamp handle and then laser-cutting my logo design into a piece of lino for print...
More very beautiful but simplistic identity designs, I am mainly focusing on the various stationary depicted throughout and what I can reproduce for my own...
For mine, I plan to include:
- The Stamp of logo (appearing on saddle stitched notebooks)
- Stickers
- An intro card/CV
- Concepts of my updated insta account (more channelled towards graphics)
- Email footer design
+ My DesignersWhoDj Idea...
At the beginning of the module I had the idea to develop a blog/collective of my own aimed at various designers who also DJ and are involved in the designing within the music industry (predominantly the techno rave scene, but I'm open to what it could grow into!) Through developing my own personal branding (which I was in great need of) I realised this project would be quite difficult to push alongside the module with my time restraints (granted down to my poor time management with the flow of other modules). But I still want to push the idea and give it the opportunity to grow after this module has finished. Therefore I have decided I will kickstart it and design the initial stages in-sync with the theme and styles of my personal branding so it fits in. I aim to produce for it:
- An insta account - featuring designers and djs, my own inspirations within the graphics of the music industry (album art design/poster design/etc)& other articles, etc.. Also links to mixtapes, etc
- A CD case/pouch in-sync with my other personal branding including a mixtape and an introductory card with links to DWD social media pages and also a brief paragraph explaining my aims with the project and what you can look out for.
